Duplicate content issues for TLDs clarified

Duplicate content is always an issue where your website’s SEO is concerned. There was a belief till now that a business having the same site on different country specific TLDs might get involved in duplicate content issues.

But here is the breather. Google and Yahoo have confirmed that they treat the content for same site with different TLDs differently. These sites are not considered as copies of each other but are understood as the same site with geo targeting domains.

So you do not need to worry about duplicate content issues for TLDs. Nevertheless, it is always a good practice to have content targeted towards  the geo location target audiences of your site.

This makes it more compatible to the target visitors and helps in improving your conversions. But one thing is  for sure now. You do not need worry about duplicate content issues with different TLDs any longer.

    Hi,
Sorry but i am not agree with the above comment, It will me more helpful to me if you would have provided the source (as you said Google and Yahoo confirmed) but i did not find any source regarding to this confirmation.
Lets say, one owner have booked domain xyzabc.com and selling products related to books, now another person have bough xyzabc.co.in domain and start copying data from abcxyz.com (here owner is different), now what you say? still Google and yahoo will treat this as no copy.

    awaiting for your feedback,

    thanks

    Hi,
Good to hear your thoughts and that you expressed your doubts.
Firstly this was stated by Google and Yahoo search engineers at the SMX sydney. Secondly search engines and their algos are not working on just one trend that if the domain names are same and their extensions different then it will take them as same and let other sites copy the content. They come into picture when they belong to the same company, and search engines don’t just see the domain name and the content they do also have other details related to the domains.

I hope that would have cleared your doubts.

    Kind regards.
